Before
I LOVE deadlifts. Knowing that I can not do handstands….. I was a little bummed I had to scale AGAIN. The scaled deadlift weight was lightish so I was not too worried. But the amount of reps is what was really scaring me.
Strategy
REPS REPS REPS. I did not want to burn out too fast, so I had a plan on how to break it up. Round one deadlifts were going to go 11-10,7-8, 9. Round two 7-7-7,5-5-5,3-3-3. I wanted to be able to breathe during the push-ups and bear-crawl walks.
Durning
Things got heavy FAST. Round one I stayed on track with my strategy, round two was a mess. 21 deadlifts are no joke. The hard part happened when the weight changed and it just went downhill from there. 5 mins in and I was stuck at the second round of 21 deadlifts.
After
Well, that’s over. I finished the last 9 deadlifts but did not have time to do the last bear crawl. I am happy with my end result but would want to do it again. Two days later my hamstrings still are hurting but overall it was a great time.
